March being a month of celebrating women all over the world, we wish to celebrate African trailblazers. Women who have impacted the African communities on the continent and the African Diaspora at large.
Their achievements have been recognized without regards to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political, verily their achievements are vehemently received in African communities.
The list is endless but I wish to celebrate Taaka Awori in this article.
A daughter of Dr Thelma Awori the former Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations and the Late Aggrey Awori, a Ugandan Economist, Politician and Olympic hurdler.
Taaka Awori is the Co-Founder and the CEO of Busara Africa, a pan-African Leadership Development Firm. She is a leadership expert, Certified Coach organizational Development Specialist, Facilitator, and a Public Speaker who brings a rewarding 20 years of experience working with public and private organizations including NGOs across the World.
Taaka is the Chair of the Board of the African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF), the first pan-African women’s fund dedicated to the realization and fulfilment of African Women’s rights. She is also a member of the Editorial Board of Coaching perspectives, the flagship global publication of the Association for Coaching.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Harvard University and a Juris-Doctor (J.D.) in Law from Columbia University.
Busara Africa is an Organisation based in Accra, Ghana, that provides transformational resources for personal growth and work environment. Their leadership programs, which are well researched and experiential, create a lasting impact to their students and clientele.
Taaka Awori writes too, she has authored a book titled ‘Leadership In Africa Redefined’, the book is written from encounters with ethical, transformative leaders in Africa who shared their formidable stories with the author.
